The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."
Reiki was founded by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century and was brought to the West in 1938 by Hawayo Takata.
It is non-invasive, non-intrusive, safe and natural method of relaxation. It works holistically on all levels of the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies, gently allowing the vital energies of the body to flow freely in a balanced and harmonious way.
During a Reiki session the Client remains fully clothed and lies on a couch or sits comfortably in a chair. The Practitioner channels Reiki energy through their hands which are gently placed on or over the Clients body in a sequence of movements, allowing the energy to work where it is needed, releasing stress and tension.
The Client may experience a wonderful glowing feeling flowing through them, or have sensations of tingling, hot, cold etc. or they may experience none of these. There is no right or wrong way to experience the energy, everybody’s experience is valid. Reiki helps to promote feelings of calm and peace, giving a sense of balance, security and wellbeing.
Alison completed the First and Second Degree in the Usui Reiki Method of Natural Healing in 2011, tracing her ‘spiritual lineage’ back to Mikao Usui.
Each Reiki session with Alison lasts between 30-45 minutes and costs £20
